Zhouzhuang, is considered the Venice of China. And it seemed a perfect story of a wonderful and spectacular ancient city that shows what one expects to see on arrival in China.

Our arrival was made on 27 December 2007, and was a day trip, we took in the tourist buses that offer out of Shanghai.

The journey started at 4 and a half in the morning, which we set to run for tickets to this beautiful city. hopefully find tickets with departure at 8 thirty in the morning and return around 4 pm. The Trip takes about two hours. and when we arrived as we begin to see water canals instead of streets. This city was cordoned off and no vehicles allowed to enter. The travel cost really worth it includes the entrance.

Once you fall within one of its streets, houses, and canals where the locals take boats to paddle for one, is awesome to realize how they enjoy their work and sing under the lead through the city on the river, it was their provelleran customs of singing for more fish to return to their homes. and today still retain this tradition.

The museums are worth being seen where they show all the rudimentary techniques used for fishing as its main source of income, as well as samples of households were composed. awesome comment that all houses can still be seen and have not been remodeled. and maintain their own oriental architecture of past decades was our only guide book of LP but really did not show the grandeur of the city but rather basic information.

Very interesting to see how old is past his 60 years working in craft yet. weaving, spinning the cotton by hand, rope making shoes, a nobleman who pitifully over the years not been given due prominence as a mini-scale building ships and boats they use in their city. older women making shoes by hand. in which the guide told us that we had to haggle. but the view that older people are working so hard to survive is painful to be a bargain for 50 cents, it is better to recognize the value of their work and still see their happy faces.

We stopped at a house where they still make fresh artisan bread. bought for 50 cents a box of bread that originally gave us prove insecurity. but once we tasted we regret not having bought more. and therefore seldom tasted anything so good done by the hands of elders in primitive brick kilns and clay.

We are in a street where old ladies from the fishing done in the day sold the few fish which have, to get some money. But like most tourists because it is logical to think that these are very poorly sold.

This city is famous for it has been exposed in the movie Mission Impossible III, tourists no longer come and take photos. but that it is unfortunately UNESCO as a representation for the preservation of heritage for humanity does not take into account Zhouzhuang and given it the value it truly deserves.

I invite you and believe me it is a city which does not want to leave so we feel like coming out of there. There are few hotels. but I think for all lovers of living in a simple, and appreciate the art of Chinese provinces elderly deserves punishment a thousand times a night in Zhouzhuang.

I think it’s a city to return, appreciating and expressing the beauty it contains. Zhouzhuang is definitely the Venice of China!

Being reputed to be the paradise on earth, Suzhou is one of the greatest residences for human. But Mudu Ancient Water Town, which located in the west of Suzhou City, is actually the highlight of Suzhou. It has a history of more than 2500 years, and it has been served as a witness of the War between Wu State and Yue State (this two states are both located around the area of Suzhou during the years around BC 221).
There is a legend for this water town. Xi Shi, the most beautiful lady in the Yue State, was presented as a spy by the King of Yue to the King of Wu in the purpose of winning the war. Captivated by the beauty of Xi Shi, the King of Wu overused the labor and prosperity of his state to build lots of palaces. A great amount of wood was delivered into Wu State, making the river blocked by wood, and the place where the river was blocked is Mudu Watertown, and that’s why Mudu got its name, meaning “blocked by wood”.
Mudu as a southern ancient waterside town in Suzhou has the unique and typical structure differing from other waterside and ancient towns. Mudu is the only gardening ancient town in southern China. There were more than 30 private gardens or parks in Ming and Qing dynasties. The well-restored gardens include: Yan-Family Garden, Hongyingshanfang, Old-Pine-Tree Garden, Bangyan Villa and Panyin Thatched Cottage and so on. The deep culture accumulation, the elegant garden environment and famous historic legends offer you a good leisure place.

Zhouzhuang has a history dated back to 900 years ago. Located at the southwest of Kunshan city, 70 kilometers away from Shanghai, it is famous for its water and ancient bridges. This town is full of water which flow through the front and back of all houses, the only transportation you can use in this town is gondola. This gives it the name of ” Venice of Orient “.
There are many fantastic places and views to visit and see, including Twin Bridges, Fuan Bridge, Shen House, Milou Tower, and more. Many bridges in the town show unique bridge traditions different from other designs. The most amazing view displays a house where a boat can enter the property through the front gate and sail through the courtyard.

Wuzhen is one of six ancient water towns which located in south of Yangtze River with 1200-year-old history. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the town, which make it the only ancient water town adjacent to the canal. Besides, it enjoys a warm and humid climate. All these conditions lent the great advantages to it for nurturing a rich culture over the last 1,300 years.

Since Wuzhen was built along rivers, there are more than thirty bridges linking the different sections of this town together. Many of them date back to Song and Ming Dynasty. While wandering in it, what you can see everywhere are the quiet water, ancient bridges and historic houses, which compose a classical picture of common life of the south of Yangtze River.
