A group of Chinese artists untaught in the 60s and 70s use cartoon illustrations to represent the rare experiences of this generation. After the confused 80s, they constant to use the same cheerful metaphors to explore existential questions, a satire on contemporary Chinese people.

Dandeli Art Space invites you to penetrate “a momentous tough” in explore of “crucial” issues in a series of “bouncy” artworks. A group of Chinese artists untaught in 1960s and 1970s like to use form of cartoon to represent their rare experiences of this generation. The seemed trusting expression in truth addresses the depression and hesitation in the artists’ feeling. The idealistic culture they normal in their childhood and the Utopia they whispered to ensue was shattered by the significant changes in Chinese people since 1980s. Their paintings confess the inquiry of the generation about character identity and let out their hopes and despairs — Who are we? Where are we from and where are we open? These artists work to answer the said time-grateful questions with somewhat cheerful metaphors. It is interesting that what they have done creates extend questions, which are actually a way to ask the old questions from a different approach. However, the answers look not subsist. Artist contained: Zhu Jin, Liu Kun, Zeng Jianyong, Jing Yuchao, Li Geye, Hang Chunhui and Xu Haidong.
